Let’s Talk About… Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum [DNF]

I like to keep this blog upbeat, but I also try my best to give honest opinions here. This is going to be a super quick post because I stopped reading Hausfrau at page 65. I held onto a paperback ARC of this novel for a few years because the premise and cover were cool, but the story was not my cup of tea. The writing was a lot more erotic than I expected, I think it’s safe to say there were at least 8 graphic sex scenes in the first 65 pages, I felt like there was non-stop detailed descriptions of Anna’s affair and not enough story structure. I also found the writing a bit erratic because a single chapter bounced between several settings and time lines at once. Lastly, I’m not a huge fan of anything that glorifies infidelity, so this book is not for me. Maybe someone else will enjoy Hausfrau, but I’m certainly never going to finish it.
