2018 is going to be a great book year for me! I think I have finally found the right balance of reading for fun and doing my school work because I smashed my Goodreads goal this year and hope to do the same next year! Here are a few books that I can’t wait to read in the new year!
Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare (The Dark Artifices #3)
I’m bummed that this one won’t be out for about another year, but I am so excited to see how Cassie Clare wraps up Emma and the Blackthorn’s story. I know she has a book about Magnus coming out this year but I’m not quite as excited about that one as I am about this new TDA book!
Release date: 4 December 2018
Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (The Illuminae Files #3)
I literally can’t wait for this book! It comes out in March, which means that I will probably not be able to read it until May when the semester is over, but I am excited regardless. This is the last book in the Illuminae Files trilogy and I look forward to seeing how this story ends because I love everything about the previous books.
Release Date: 18 March 2018
I Was Anastasia by Ariel Lawhon
I have an e-ARC of this one that I haven’t gotten to read yet, but it’s at the top of my list to read before it comes out in March! I think this story sounds very interesting because it’s about the struggle of Anastasia Romanov to be recognized as her true self. You’ll have to read the Goodreads synopsis to know what I mean. I love historical fiction so I am very much looking forward to reading this in the new year!
Release Date: 27 March 2018
The Emerald Sea by Richelle Mead (The Glittering Court #3)
I haven’t read Midnight Jewel yet, but I really liked the first book in this series. I think I will have time to catch up before this one comes out in June! This series is different to most I’ve read before because all three books tell the same story from a new perspective each time. This final installment will follow Tamsin’s journey to the Glittering Court and beyond because she disappears a few times in the first book and then mysteriously comes back. I thought Tamsin was one of the best characters in book one so I look forward to reading her perspective on the story.
Release Date: 26 June 2018
As You Wish by Chelsea Sedoti
I really enjoyed Sedoti’s last book, The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett. I think she has a cool writing style and kept me interested even when I thought the plot was a bit predictable. I am hoping this book is like the first, and maybe even better! I have an e-ARC of this novel as well, though I won’t be getting around to reading it before the release date I am putting it up high on my TBR list. I don’t actually know much about the plot of this book but I think it’s different from Lizzie’s story because it appears this book is not a mystery type of story. I’m happy to go in blind though and see what happens!
Release Date: 2 January 2018
The Atomic City Girls by Janet Beard
This last one is another that I have an e-ARC of and, again, will be placing high on my TBR list because it comes out in a little over a month! This is another historical fiction novel based on World War II America. The premise sounds super interesting, I’ll link to Goodreads again because I can’t properly explain the plot of this book either, so I am looking forward to reading this story!
